The main role of the digestive system is to break down and absorb food. The

intestine, rectum and finally anus. There are several small glands present in the mouth,
stomach, and small intestine. These glands produce juices that help in the digestion of
food. There is also a smooth muscle layer in the digestive system that helps in moving
the food in the digestive tract. Digestive problems are caused when there is a
disruption in the gastrointestinal tract due to diet, disease, and stress. Most of these
problems can be treated with simple lifestyle changes and medicines.
